Challenges to: “A Short Course on Revelation” Part 2

You challenged the concept of the tribulation being judgment, referring back to the seals and the plagues of Revelation as if they were some separate entity. You also told me that you spend little to no time reading the old testament, so here is the underlying problem. I think an attempt at establishing what this time we call the tribulation is, is in order. Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it. Without a comparative look at the Old Testament we might not have any understanding of what Jacob’s troubles is. A clear aspect of the passage is “that day”. I believe the reference is to “the day of the Lord.” This day plays a significant role in our understanding of Jacob’s troubles. The fact that Jacob is associated with the beginnings of Israel is a huge clue. The passage also states that “he shall be saved out of it.” Who then is the “he” referring to since Jacob is long since passed?…

Questions? Some have all the answers.

The July 2012 newsletter, “The Bible Says” calls itself ‘the bible answer to your questions’. Obviously not every question, like “Daddy, where did we dinosaurs come from?” Because this is one of those things that the bible is rather silent concerning. I strongly suspect the answer is there, but it probably requires thinking outside the box, and that causes great grief to fundamentalists. Someone had written in asking, “Will the Antichrist be the 12th Imam (Mahdi) that Shia Muslims, particularly the Iranian leadership, are expecting?” The answers are a compilation from the World Prophetic Ministry research department, and writings from the late Doctors: Howard C. Estep, Dave Breese, Ed Hinson, and “others.” I am familiar with these names and have read this newletter for several years now. I made the assumption that their information was good all the time. I was wrong. The answer to the question asked was a decisive one, “Absolutely not!” They continue: “The bible indicates the Antic…

False Accusations Have Been Brought!

Read: Acts 6:8 – 7:60
False accusations have been brought against Stephen and he had been dragged before the high council of the Jews. While most would react in anger, screaming out in their own defense, not Stephen. As the Jewish council glared at him they saw the face of an angel. When they demanded that he respond he gives them a very precise history that shows God’s hand in the salvation, sins, birth, and bondage of a nation.
Two things caught my attention. Acts 7:38 .. our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give to us: …. The phrase lively oracles in Greek is: logia zonta, meaning: living doctrines that give life upon obedience to them. Here, the term applies to Moses’ law. Logia zonta, used in Romans 3:2 refers to the Old Testament in general. In Hebrews 5:12 and 1Peter 4:11 it encompasses all of scripture. Conceptually: The idea of living doctrines conveys: teaching or instructions that are alive. We perceive the word alive as something that breathes, moves,…
